How do u clean that black stuff off ur Iron's bottom?

Get some relaxer (the kind black girls use) from cvs, walmart, etc. follow the directions for mixing the relaxer. heat up the iron, when hot take a cloth or papertowel, or scouring pad and wipe globs of of the relaxer on it. the brown stuff will just peel away and fall off its amazing. it sounds crazy but i learned this in cosmetology school it works like a charm and it also works on curling irons and flat irons. give it a shot you won't regret it!
Buy a new iron at walmart, they go on sale for $9.99 all of the time.
On a cold iron, I moisten an SOS pad & using circular motions, I scrub the yukky stuff off. I then wipe the iron off with a damp cloth & dry it. Clean the iron holes out with a Q Tip, to remove the SOS soap. This works great.
Warm the iron and then run it over some wax paper. Do not let it still still on the paper, same as if you are ironing your clothes. If not sure about wax paper it is in same area of grocery store as aluminum foil.
I dropped a hot iron on the carpet and it burnt bad - and then the black stuff at the bottom got worse over a few months until I couldn't iron a thing without the iron sticking to the clothes and leaving brown marks everywhere...I tried everything short of sand paper ... then invested in a tub of relaxer, put it on when the iron was hot - And it wiped off! - thanks for the great advice!!!
