What's the best way to get rid of dog pee smell?
Question:I have a german shepherd and she's 12 years old. I let her out at 6:30AM, 5:30PM and 10:30PM. Yet she still pees in front of my dresser and now my room smells like pee. I used the spray to neutralize pet odors and remove the stain, and I also used my carpet shampooer to try and get rid of the smell, yet I can still smell her urine. Are there other alternatives?
Answers:
The smell and stain has got into the padding of the carpet, so the smell and stain will continue to return until the padding has been cleaned. The dog will keep "going" in that spot ans long as she can smell urine there.
To remove the smell and stain, mix a runny paste of baking soda and water. I usually mix it about 50/50. Pour it on the urine spot, soaking it into the carpet and padding.
Next, make a solution of vinegar and water, again about 50/50 and pour that onto the baking soda solution. It will bubble like crazy. After it has finished bubbling, blot it up with an old towel, then follow that up with paper towels.
After that spot has dried, make that spot unattractive to the dog to deter her from a repeat performance. Can you pull the dresser out from the wall to cover that spot? At lest temporarily? Put a milk carton over the spot? Put her food and water there for awhile? Dogs wont "go" where they eat.
Can you rearrange the room? Put some different furniture in that spot? If that wont work, you'll have to keep the dog from your room. You can't let her do that.
Go to the pet store and get enzyme spray for such occasions.
Train him to do his number two inside, and you won't notice the pee smell any more.
shoot the dog.
But seriously, a dog usually 'goes' about 10--20 minutes after eating and drinking. Wait 15 min or so after one of her 3 meals then let her out and make sure she goes outside. This will pretty much solve the pee problem. But remember: dont leave food in her bowl all day! It stales the food, makes the dog sleepy and depressed, and also causes the problem described above. Always have clean fresh water throughout the day, though.
Natures Miracle
it works!
Good Luck, Maybe you should try taking the dog out more often, Try to keep an eye on the dog and when she wanders off follow her to make sure she's not peeing
white vinegar neutralizes odor, safe for use on carpets and in your laundry
You probably need to get a stronger shampoo. I do janitorial work you might go to a janitorial supply store and see if they have something stronger for carpet. They have shampoos that they use in hospital and schools. There is another product that I use called Oda Ban I use it in my own home on pet stains. It will disinfect and it deodorize the carpet. Also you might want to check and make sure your dog is not going some where else in your house.
try urine gone i use it when my cat sprays it takes away the stains and smells
