Kitchen Flies??
Question:I have these little tan and black fly things around my kitchen sink. They just appeared out of nowhere and I have a very clean kitchen so i was surprised. I cleaned it with lysol but then hours later they are back. Are they fruit flies? Nats? Fleas? I have a cat but the flies are only by the sink.

They are called drain flies. I have had them too. You have to go to your local hardware store and ask for something specifically for them. Bleach will not get rid of them. It takes a special chemical, like DF5000. If you have a disposal that is probably the likely cause. If not then you may have a leak. You can google drain flies treatment and it will tell you what to use and what you can do to prevent them. Hope this helps.
Mine are just like fruit flies. My father said they can hatch on many things. Empty soda can, dish cloth, flour with a little water. I hung yellow fly strips to catch mine. good luck.
Most likely they are fungus gnats. You can purchase small sticky boards at the hardware store in the pesticide section. You put them on a metal stick and the gnats will then stick to the board.
If you have a disposal, the flies may be hatching from there. You may want to use bleach to clean it out. Another remedy I have tried is this: place a bowl with water and a fair amount of dish soap in it, in the room (or on the counter) and place a lamp near it. The flies will be attracted to the smell and light, land in it, and be unable to get out.
Good luck...they can be pesky buggers.
If you have plants at home this could be the cause, they are call Gnats . They live of the soil and dead root´s of plants. Try letting your plant´s dry out for a week, See if this makes a difference
Probably fruit flies. Luckily, they have a short life span. Pur some apple cider vinegar in a shallow dish and then throw in a squirt of dish liquid. Set it near the sink and it'll trap them.
those are fruit flies. i dont know how they appear though. maybe they end up in the bag you buy them with.
