Washed my white pants with Red!! Help!!?
Question:Such a rookie mistake, but now my favorite capris are pink. (not a cute pink, either!) What do I do to turn them white again?? TY in advance!!
Answers:
If you are in the US, go get RIT Color Remover. It's usually available at a grocery store or Wal-Mart type place (fabric stores too, if you can't find it anywhere else). It's in the racks with the other RIT fabric dyes. The box indicates "removes dye stains from whites washed by mistake with colored items". I am quoting directly from the box, because I bought a couple of them after I used it for EXACTLY the same rookie mistake, and I now keep some in reserve in the laundry room! It works the best if you can flip the poor (now) pink garment right back into the washer with the color remover--following all the simple manufacturers instructions. Hopefully you still have time to save the capris! It works way better than bleach (not as hard on the fabric, either). Good luck and trust me, buy a couple of boxes :-)
Use Dye Magnet cloths in the future! You can also try a dye magnet cloth after the fact. Have you tried soaking them in OxyClean? That usually works if the item can't be bleached. If they've already gone through the dryer, nothing will work well.
bleach it?
