How can I keep my t-shirts from shrinking so much?
Question:I am so sick of washing my t-shirts and having them not only shrink, but crinkle and curl. These shirts are expensive, even when I dry them on low heat (delicate) they still get screwed up. If you suggest I dry them on a hanger please provide me with a means to make the fabric de-wrinkle and not be so hard/firm. Thanks in advance.

Okay, drying them on a hanger, and washing them in only cold water, will keep them from shrinking. See warm or hot water makes them shrink! Also, a brilliant way to get wrinkles out of clothing is to put your shirts in the dryer for only a minute, long enough to get the shirt warm, for a minute or two, right. Then you mist it while its on a hanger with 1/4 vinegar, 3/4 water, and give a tug or two on those area's that might have a little extra wrinkles, and I have literally watched the wrinkles go away before my eyes!! KID YOU NOT! This is also good for getting rid of odor's in shoes, or on carpets, and for removing stain's from clothing too!! I swear by this vinegar solvent!! It's fabulous! And the great thing is the vinegar smell will disipate! It goes away in a matter of seconds!! So, you dont have to worry about the vinegar smell on your clothing when your wearing them, at all ! Good Luck to you!! I never dry my kids shirts in the dryer except for a minute or two, and sometimes not at all, if there isn't any wrinkles that wont come out when I shake them out! My kids grown too fast, for me to afford not to put them right on a hanger after those couple of minutes in the dryer!! Only literally a couple of minutes! Otherwise the whole vinegar thing will be for nothing.. This works wonderful for like dress-up shirts, that you can dry in the dryer and aren't worried about shrinkage!! The vinegar solvent does! Just dry them fully, and place them on the hanger and mist away! Good Luck to you!
I can suggest this. Wash on a lower Temp, also set your machine on a lower spin. 40Âșc temp should be fine for T-shirt.
Hang them up to dry instead of putting them in the dryer!
Wash your t-shirts in cold water and dry them on low. If you dry them on a hanger, steam press them or iron them (not sure how that would impact when comes to shrinking.)
Or you could buy a size bigger in t-shirts.. like one cheap one and see if you like it after you wash it.
Use fabric softener in the final rinse. When you take them out of the wash shake them out really good. Then hang them on a hanger to dry inside out so you don't get the hanger bumps on the shoulders
wash like you normally do...put in dryer 20 minutes...set timer...as soon as timer is done, shake clothes and hang quickly to finsh drying...they will keep the fabric softner smell longer, they will not wrinkle and shrink less
Gentle was in cold water with fabric softener. Then hang dry, not in direct heat. Don't hang on hanger. Fold like a dress shirt and put away...
