They are two completely different things. Powder can only be used for cooking. Soda can be used for cooking, cleaning, brushing your teeth, refreshing your fridge...etc etc.

No No no! Absolutely not! Baking powder is made for baking cookies, cakes etc.. Baking Soda is a bicarbonate used for many things. There are different types of baking soda though, some you can use to gargle others you can't. Some you can use to clean carpets, others its not advised, read the back of the container and it should tell you.
