Does anyone have any tips for cleaning a teenagers bedroom? HELP ITS A BOMB!?

My mom always give's me 2 options:

1. I clean it myself.

2. She throws everything away. (that's on the floor) that includes clothes, ipods, game boys, books, CD's PC games ANYTHING.

She also has a friend that does that with her children, she actaully did it ONCE (my mom's friend) and then her kids kept they're room clean.

If this is a teen asking. Start in one corner and work you're way around. Get 3 big garbage bags, one for trash, one for dirty clothes and one to send to Goodwill. If you must, just work about an hour every day in the room.

well, i woul dget a few boxes and garbage bags, have atrash bag, a dirty laundry bag, a throw away bag, a box for stuff like p[apers and stuff you need to keep. and maybe a goodwill bag and a box for stuff that doesnt belong inthe room also! ( i just take it out in arm loads usually!. i start by picking up the trash cuz that is usually the easiesat and make quite a bit of difference w. out much work! then grab all the dirty clothes. maybe toss some in the goodwill bag. then i just throw anything i want to keep like papers. books, or whatever i see in the KEEP box to sort thru later. i hang all the clean clothes or fold them, these things make a big difference when you just do one at a time even! you would be surprised! good luck. after you do these things, you can do the rest like make your bed( actually do thta once yuo make enough room to easily!) makes a super big difference! and then ddo things like dust and vacum and maybe organize better!
Go into the bedroom (if you can) taking with you a large plastic garbage bag. You put EVERYTHING that is not in its proper place, onto the bed. You then tell your precious teenager they have X amount of time to put the stuff on the bed where it should be (you decide the time limit) and if stuff is left ON THE BED you will consider it rubbish and into the bag it goes, and out it goes. I tell you this works. I have had 3 teenage sons!!)Good luck and dont back down.
this is easy (i am a teenager) just take away privileges such as the internet, TV, music etc. and dont give them back until its done.
my mum always does to me and it ALWAYS works!
Stop doing it for them, for a start. They are not incentivised to make any effort to keep their room clean if you do it all the time. Make them aware that this is their transition time between being a child and being an adult. They have no choice but to accept more responsibility as childhood is a one way street. No clean room no food, TV, Internet.whatever, you choose the appropriate sanction.
If they want to continue being a helpless child make sure they know you will make it your business to wash their faces, comb their hair etc when you decide it needs doing. (They'll hate that more than cleaning their own rooms.)
The garbage bags are a good idea, taking away privileges also a way to go but could you do it together? Perhaps gently suggest some new furniture to make it less painful or a new rug or some gay floor cushions However the main thing is that it needs doing. Also one day they may have a home of their own will they consider a room for a parent who is really messy? Talk is good but action is necessary!!
