Who else uses soap-nuts?
Question:Two weeks ago, we went to the Eco-Dojo and bought a big bag of Indian soap-nuts. We have been doing all our laundry with them since by placing a hessian bag containing a few nuts in the washing machine with each load. Our clothes etc are as good as ever using this natural product and the nuts can be composted after two or three uses. The bag is still almost full - indicating a huge saving compared to soap powder etc.
Who else uses soap-nuts? What other natural alternatives are you using around your homes?
Good wishes.

Have heard of soap nuts, and they sound good.
I am thinking of getting eco-balls, which last up to 700 washes. It's good to see people trying out different things instead of the bog standard washing powders.
I've been using soap nuts since April. I got mine from Lakeland. The box contained 250g which they say is for to 50 washes. I haven't worked it out but I do 5-6 loads a week and I'm only just opening my seond box. I no longer use fabric conditioner either. The laundry now just smells clean not chemically.
They did a great job of removing Glastonbury type mud after a day out a motor racing event the same weekend! The packaging suggest bicarbonate or soda to help whiten whites in an eco way.
A couple of halves have been whole and contained the nut/seed from the tree. Don't think we'll grow out own though it would be huge.
