How Do I stop a knocking sound coming from my Fisher and Paykel smartdrive 9 excellence 6.5?
Question:Hi,Im hoping that someone here knows what is causing my washing machine to make a knocking sound during the wash cycle. It seems that when the clothes are being washed there is some kind of knocking sound (think that the drum is rubbing against the wire cables that run down the corners of the machine,) It has a bias spring attached to one of these cables and connected to the top left hand side of the drum...(I assume to keep the drum centred.)
looking forward to your responses

Is the machine brand new?? If so, have you removed the 'transport packaging', usually a block of wood to keep the innards of the machine 'stable' whilst in transit. Could also be some other 'packaging' remnant left in the under side of the machine. Failing this, call a serviceman before you do some permanent damage.
sounds like to me you are putting in heavy and light things together, mine does that too if I put in sheets and towels together, I wash them seperately
You could just be overfilling your washer. Mine made that noise for a while. I would imagine, though, that if it was that simple you would have figured it out. My two cents.
I'd call a repair man to fix it.
You could be right... it could be a mechanical problem, which would require a repairman . But it could also be an unbalanced load, heavy stuff with lighter stuff, and all the weight is on one side. Just open the lid and redistribute the clothes more evenly. Then shut the lid. If this doesn't work, its time for the repairman.
