How to clean a stove...?
Question:We have a fairly new stove. The surface is black and sort of like enamel. We have scratched it in the past just by using Comet and warm water.
There is some burned on stuff that we need to get off, but we don't want to scratch it further. Soaking is tough in spots because the water leaks into the burners and such.
What can we use to clean this without making it look horrible?
Answers:
Heat up some white vinegar (very hot not boiling) and soak a few paper towels in it then bunch it up over the spot. Leave it about 20-30 minutes and come back to wipe it up. The acid in it breaks up the burned crud and grease. I use those pre-approved credit cards from the mail as scrapers too as they won't harm surfaces and are perfect for scraping up gum on hard floors, baked on casserole pans, etc.
Use Soft Scrub (available anywhere).
spray with easy off oven cleaner then use soft scrub
Pour water on the stove's surface that is burned and then let it stay there for a little while. After a minute or two clean it up, it should come off easily.
Wet a dishcloth w/water & soap. Put the wet cloth on the spots & let set for a while to loosen the material. The cloth should be between completely squeezed dry & soaking wet.
Go to Target or Walmart and find stove top surface cleaner. There are different types of cleaners specifically for tops that are flat on top that won't scratch the surface. They're usually in with the other kitchen cleaners.
Soft scrub with a sponge with a non scratch pad on it. Like the ones with a handle to wash pots and pans and you can actually put the sort scrub in it. Good Luck!
PS. If you just wipe it each time you use it (I know its a pain) you will rarely need to scrub at all!
