2 Dryers one Vent?
Question:I need to vent one gas dryer (current) and a newly wired electric dryer. The gas dryer currently has a 15 foot metal 5 inch vent pipe leading outside. Is there any way to connect the electric dryer vent pipe to the existing one or figure out a way to vent without adding an addtional outside pipe structure?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

This is a great way to back-fill other other dryer with lint and humidity. They NEED separate lines.
I would say that it would be a better idea to have two vents. It would seem like the lint from one line would be blown into the other dryer and that would seem like it would be a hazzard.
I also think you will need two separate lines, as the one dryer will start pumping small amounts of lint and humidity into the other dryer... unless they are both running at the same time. Best to just install a second pipe structure.
If you combine the vents you will be blowing the combusted air into the other dryer, don't do this. you need seperate vent pipes and through wall exhausts. If you try to put in dampers to keep the air from backdrafting, they will fail in the future due to lint. I would think that local codes will not allow combining the two vent pipes.
