Organize room?
Question:I can't get my stuff organized. I always seem to run out of time, be too tired or not have enough space any tips?
Answers:
Schedule a specific day for getting your room together(an appointment with yourself!) Start thinking about specific containers to put things in, i.e., a shoe organizer, laundry hamper, coat hangers, plastic storage boxes, a jewelry box or organizer, shelving for books, art supplies, etc. Before you start, make yourself a diagram of where you want to put things. Make sure you put your computer, cd player, etc. close to outlets so you're not falling over cords all the time. When you start, have garbage bags handy! Consider every item, do you really need it, use it, want it? If not, throw it out! Once you have created a place for everything, and have everything in it's place, start a new habit! Every time you take something out to use, put it back! Every morning, when you get up, schedule 5 extra minutes into your morning routine to make your bed, hang up your clothes, pick up dirty clothes, dishes, etc. This is one habbit that will pay you alifetime of dividends! Not only, will you feel better, save time(because you're not looking for something you need), you will develop skills that are invaluable in school, work, etc. Good luck!!
start one small section at a time...
Buy bins for your closet, seperate items into catagories, and place into catorized bins. And when you have time, and when you know where you want things...you can start one bin at a time.
Start with one room at a time. Organize your stuff while listening to music. Work on paper things and clothing one hour at a time.
Declutter, declutter, declutter! Then sort what you absolutely want to keep, and buy storage for those items. Don't forget to use vertical space as well. It helps to put like items in a pile, and then declutter from there. It's more frustrating than it's worth having too many things, and not being able to use or enjoy them.
What room are you in need of space?
In a garage or a basment finished or not, picking up a few put together yourself cabinets from a home depot or lowes, will help, you can transfer some extra stuff from other rooms into there, detergents, towels that you dont frequently use, lawn or tool boxs, and free up areas for use.
I recomment a Utlity cabinet for basements or garages or mud rooms, its a great way to store brooms, mops shovels, or tall things.
Buying a pantry can help free up cabinet space in a kitchen, you can put a pantry anywhere in the house, in a dining room, in a corner in the living room, or transform a closet into a pantry, by adding shelving. It's easy to do and the best way.
Using Boxes of simular sizes, and buying white or colored labels, and labing boxes of whats inside, can help that way you're not afraid to put something away for a while, because you wont worry about finding them.
take away your appliances, if you dont use your blender, or toaster every day, put them in a closet, or cabinet, keep your counterspace yours.
Use shoe racks, or shoe bags to free up space, from shoes, it's a common house hold problem to find shoes everywhere.
in the laundry rooms, are an easy fix by installing shelving, or buying metal or plastic shelves, put your detergents, irons, and everything on them...
Another way to create space, is by using ottomans that can store blankets, or buying plastic bags that you can store comfortoers under your bed, to free up your closet space.
its good to get binders or upright file holders, to store bills, and keep it on a shelf on your desk, or on a stand/table.
Every little bit of space that is saved, makes a large diffearnce. you'd be suprised.
even organizing your vegitables, in order can actually MAKE you save room because you wont be afraid to stack things higher, or organzing your refrigerator, putting things with other things of the same kind, actually mentally comforts you so you dont feel nervous about putting something on top or infront of it, because you know where it is, and how to get to it quickly,
its the very reason why we leave our toaster on the counter, or our blender, even if we only use it once a week or even less sometimes...
