How can I remove this awful food smell from shoes?
Question:I work at Eat 'n Park and I have bits of food stuck in the treads of my shoes, and it smells awful. I took a scrub brush to get the food out of the shoes and that worked. The only problem, the smell remained. To me, it smells like a mixture of grease, food ((both hot and cold)), and something else that I can't put my finger ((or nose in this case)) on. Either way, I can't get it out. It wouldn't be such a problem because I have a separate pair of shoes for work because of this reason, BUT I forgot them a twice and had to wear a pair of shoes that I like. Now these shoes that I like smell and I desperately long to get it out so I can wear them without smelling this odor.

You might try vinegar. Put enough white vinegar in a pan or sink to just cover the rubber soles of the shoes. Let the soles to sit in the vinegar for 15 to 30 minutes. Air dry. You can spray a little 'Frebreze' on the soles afterwards, too. That should to the trick! Hope it helps.good luck!
Spray them with Fabreeze. Might work.
try white vinegar - gets the smell out of most stuff
Personally I Would Just Buy Another Pair And Not Ever Use Them For Work Again....Now, As For The Ones That You Did Use For Work And Eventually Ruined, Get Your Moneys Worth And Just Take Them To Work As A Back Up And Keep Them Handy At Your Job Just In Case You Once Again Forget Your Regular Work Shoes. Then You Can Just Slip Them On, Use Them, And Leave Them There Before You Go Home So That They Will Always Be There In Case Of An Emergency And You Will Never Have To Ruin Your Good Shoes Again !!
have you tried oder eaters? or some febreeze. or depending on the type of shoe, you could throw them in the washer, on a very gentle cycle and then let them air dry. i have put alot of my shoes in the washer and they are fine.
Sprinkle some baking soda in the shoes and set them in the sun to air out. I think this should help.Make sure the food is not inside the shoe first.
