Spilled fingernail polish on carpet, it is now dry.?
Question:Help.I need to remove the bright pink dried finger nail polish from my carpet..
Answers:
Let it dry thoroughly. Then pick it off with your nails, or the side of a scissor blade, or a spoon. Just scrape. Don't cut. Get off as much as you can..
Then try a commercial stain remover per the directions. Don't rub. Blot.
Then use detergent carpet cleaner to get stain remover off.
Repeat this a couple of times.
If you still haven't gotten this out, then use ammonia, alternated with the carpet cleaner as above.
Keep blotting. Use a dry white cloth to get the color lifted into the cloth.
If nothing works, wait a few days. Then try the scissors so delicately, one thread at a time.
Oh geese..mabey you could freeze it with ice and it would break apart more easily..Not a pleasant spill..Good luck!
I would try Greased lightning . It's a cleaner you can buy at lowes or Walmart .Plus it will not discolor any of ur carpet
Well, accidents do happen, never to MOI of course! So have you done the obvious (you do own non acetone nail polish remover? don't you?) and you do know the fiber content of the carpet (don't worry most are a mess of chemicals and plastics). If wool or real honest plant grown carpet, and NOT very deep such as black, deep brown or navy, do try dabbing on the non acetone nail polish zapper. Now even light colors bleach out (we all spill bleach on the best things and even lt. beige turns white). If wool I find it is more forgiving as is natural but dont' try too much remover if a darker wool. Call the professionals is my advice. Strong laundry detergent helps to remove the stink and residue of the nail polish remover, but will NOT work to get orig spilled polish up unless you have a century to dab and swab? It's an Underdo itstead of an Overreact, ok, dainty scientist wiping gently away from the body not smooshing dreaded pink goo INTO the fiber body (carpet). I have experience too, trying to get MY deposit back. Necessity IS the mother of invention. Dab not dump, goodbye.
Test a small spot on your carpet with pure acetone. If it doesn't react, you can try to blot the polish. However, I doubt it will ever come up all of the way. I am a nail tech and have gotten polish on many different kinds of fabric. Start planning on replacing it. Sorry
