Old stale water. Dump out any water you have in there, add a teaspoon of vinegar, fill iron with distilled water, turn iron on high, steam iron an old towel until water is gone. Refill with distilled water, repeat. Always use distilled water when ironing, always empty any water in the iron out before putting it away.
