Bad luck! Try gently dabbing with eucalyptus oil bp (from the chemist, a small bottle of 25 ml is very cheap) I use a cotton bud, dip it in and dab the stain, but put more cotton wool or kitchen towel underneath the stain to absorb both the excess oil and the stain. Wash gently by hand afterwards to remove the pong of the eucalyptus.
This trick works wonders on all grease based stains and the oil evaporates so no mark is left. It can be used on the most delicate of fabrics with no problem. I have used it on silk myself.
Good luck, and next time use a bib!
DId you have it cleaned professionally or did you attempt to clean it yourself? If you had it cleaned professionally, did you point out the stain before hand? If you cleaned it yourself, how and with what did you try treating it? Did you place the item in the dryer or did you let it hang dry? If you placed it in the dryer, this usually 'sets' stains. You can attempt to try Tide (or another brand name) Stain Sticks, there are also soaps to help take out various stains. But, curry is used as a clothing dye. You may be out of luck.
It may be too late but if it is an Indian curry sauce then the stain is probably turmeric.
The only way to get rid of it is to wet the area and rub soap on it-liquid soap works just as well. Leave it for an hour or so and the stain will go away. Rinse and dry. Use a light iron to remove wrinkles.
Put the dress in a bucket full of curry sauce so it would be the same colour as the stain
Dear Twiggy---You should have had a napkin on--the sause is pemanent. Silk lovie. I would not worry about wearing it again--thats how women are. Or you could try to sew design of taste on top or maybe remake the dress. Or just wear it the way it is--sorry
My mom and I swear by something called Woolite Oxy Deep. It is actually for cleaning carpets, but this stuff works on clothes. She just wrote me an email about how she literally watched a stain disappear. It is a little spendy at $5 a bottle, but it will go a long way, plus if you have any carpet stains, it works GREAT! Look for it in the carpet fresher isle at your grocery store. PS, i don't know how it will work on a set stain, but i guess anything is worth a try.
Sorry, but from my experience NOTHING gets curry stains out, not even bleach on white clothes.
Soak the dress in cold water. remove from the water & add a small amount of your own dish washing liquid. Rub in with your finger tips, leave a couple of min“s ,then rinse with cold water
