Cleaning silver?

Question:I have one small item of silver and wish to clean it - is there a way without buying expensivge cleaners? thanks

Answers:
try tooth paste or baby powder

If you have water softener, you can just put some of that and some salt in a basin of water (equal parts, doesn't have to be a lot). Place a piece of aluminum foil at the bottom of the basin, and place your silver item on top of the foil. It'll basically clean itself.
Connoisseurs Silver Jewelry Cleaner at Walmart for about $3.00 and you can use it over and over as many times as you want.
You can use Baking soda, water and an old tooth brush. There is a product called Tarn-Away that is the best for cleaning silver, it gets in ever crack and crevice and leaves the silver sparking clean.
try this:

I know it sounds weird but it works.
tin foil
For small items I use a solution of washing soda and hot water in an aluminium take away container. It removes the tarnish by electrolysis and leaves your silver sparkling with no abrasion.
Rings and small items of jewellery clean up really well with soap and an old toothbrush or similar.
