How do you clean a feathered pillow?

Question:

Answers:
There is no harm done by washing a feather pillow. Take it to the laundromat and use one of the big front loaders. Use warm water. Dry on perm press with a pair of clean sneakers. You can do it about 1X per year.

If the ticking wears out, just buy some new ticking and make a new case. Put the feathers in the new one. Good to go for another 20 years.

Rarely. Surface clean if possible. Otherwise, put it in the washer and when drying, add tennis balls to fluff it up. Each time you wash it, it will be a bit more ruined. If possible, surface clean and then put it in thte dryer with one of those dry cleaning sheets (or even a fabric softener sheet to just freshen).

I assume you mean a feather pillow and not a pillow with feathers on the outside of it.
soak in a mild detergent in the sink. Then roll up in a towel and squeeze out all the excess water then line dry.
Best-dry clean it.
warm water with little detergent. medium dry in dryer with something heavy enough to 'beat' it while drying such as clean tennis shoes, tennis balls, etc...

for sterilization, use a dry cleaner that cleans feather pillows. The feathers are ultra-violet light sterilized; cleaners usually put on new ticking (is the cloth covering) for you.
