I have been house cleaning for 14 years, and I do not charge by the hour, I do a walk threw with the client and ask what there needs are and ask how many people live in the house (one client had 11 people living there) it usually takes me 3 to 4 hours to clean and I get 75 to 80$ per job, and I use all my own cleaning supplies, I don't do laundry, start with the kitchen, them bathrooms, different materials in a home require different cleaners, marble, granite ect. find out what to use on these so you don't ruin them,i have walked away from some homes because of the filth
I believe the going rate is around $10.00 an hour.
Trust me, you want to charge by the hour. It's hard work to clean a house for someone else believe me, I have a cleaning business..I look after rental properties in a tourist town. When I take on a new client, I tell them that the first clean will be the longest.. We bring it up to ¨ready to rent¨ standard.. we do a blitz.. after that it is just maintanance. It takes on average, 2 people 4 hours to clean a good sized 3 bedroom apartment..it can be done in less time from time to time depending on the traffic in the house, but 4 is about average, that is cleaning the bedrooms, making the beds, bathrooms, kitchen, livinging room..doing all the windows, dusting, sweeping..dry mopping and then wet mopping..we also organize all of the cupboards to make sure they are tidy- kitchen I mean. Checking and washing the glassware if needed etc.. for that we charge 8 euros per hour, which is about 9.50 usd an hour, per cleaner. The laundry we have done at the local launderer at the owners expense.
I live in Georgia and have been cleaning houses for about two years. My fees are usually around 15.00 - 20.00 dollars per hour, and I use my own cleaning supplies. I don't tell the customer what the hourly rate is, but rather how long it takes to actually clean the house. Small houses, one bedroom usually take 2 - 3 hours for a fee of $55.00, larger homes 4-5 hours about $80.00 to 100.00. When you bid on a home, take paper and pen, write down how many rooms and what the customer wants done. Then determine how long you think it may take to clean. I personally don't do laundry but do change bed linens.
Hope this helps you.....
The standard rate for whole house cleaning (dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, windows, cleaning bathrooms, etc.
is about 4hours @ 20 to 25 dollars an hour.
You should charge by the hour and not by the day because some houses will take you longer either because they just require a little more elbow grease or some may be bigger than others! When figuring your hourly rate, take into consideration whether you are supplying the supplies or they are...also consider your gas and travel time into your labor. Depending what area of TX you live in, you can charge about $10-12 per hour and typically you should expect to be there about 3-5 hours depending on the size of the house.
