How do you clean the inside of your winshield so that you don't have streaks and smears?
Question:I use windex and newspaper. Paper towels and windex do not work either. HELP!
Answers:
I use a Magic Glass Microfiber cloth. It lasts forever, can be washed when needed. It makes your glass sparkle with no streaks, or smelly chemicals. You can buy them at Linen N Things, Bed Bath and Beyond, I think Pep Boys carries them too. They cost about $10, but you'll never have to replace it for years and years, and they are the best glass cleaner you have EVER used!
I use a foaming glass cleaner it's much better.
Use vinegar and water, and dry with newspaper.
I have always used hot water a little detergent on the inside of my car windows for years, i use a clean flannel and wipe it off with a clean towel
Try some of the suggestions from other answerers and make sure the glass isnt hot from sitting in the sun.
I clean houses for a living and I combine in a gallon container, 1/4 cup of ammonia, 2 cups of rubbing alcohol, and then fill half way with cold water, then add no more than 2 teaspoons of dish washing liquid like dawn or something, then fill the rest of the way with more water. Add to a spray bottle. The key ingredient is the alcohol. This was rated by consumer reports to better than windex. It's supposely is what window washers use. I have been using it and it works great. I also use a microfiber or special cloth like you use on eyeglasses to clean it. Hope this helps.
I've found Glass Plus works better than any of the ammonia glass cleaners.
Also, it's easier when the car is out of direct sunlight --any cleaner dries too fast in the sun & doesn't get a chance to dissolve all the grime, and that's what will leave streaks.
And good, *absorbent* paper towels, like Bounty or Viva, collect the residue well. Or you can use a clean cotton rag (synthetic fibers, except the special rayons made as cleaning cloths) don't absorb well enough to do a good job.
I can't imagine that newspaper would be any help at all...
