Go to Home Depot or Lowes and tell them what you want to do and they will show you whats needed.
Do you mean a plug by saying the black thingi? You may need to call an electrician.
I think you need an electrician to come in and update your service- it is more than just a bigger plug- then you won't have the responsibility of burning the house down.
Make sure you clean your vents after each use!
You need to call an electrician or friend that knows about this sort of thing. If it is not already wired for an electric dryer you will have to have wired pulled and a breaker added to your breaker box to accommodate the dryer. There's a chance the breaker box may not be big enough, so get someone that knows what they're doing to take a look at it.
If there is already a BIG receptacle for an electric dryer and your dryer plug just doesn't fit, you can take the plug or a drawing of the prongs on the plug to any hardware store and they should be able to help you find what you need and maybe recommend an electrician to install it for you.
Don't get rid of that gas dryer, yet. You may not have any choice, but to use it, instead of your electric dryer. (actually I prefer gas....faster drying and less wrinkled clothing)
