Why do I have a film on my dishes after dishwashing them?

Question:No matter what I do, after a load of dishes has been run, I always end up with a film on most of them. Mainly plastic bowls and plastic items. Also, is there a dishwasher liquid that gets off water marks, if a glass plate sat in our sink with water on it and the water dried? What liquid works best? and does the plastic booster stuff work well?

Answers:
JetBlue or Cascade will help. Stay away from the generic brands, they usually leave the film.

probably have alot of calcium or lime in your water, try cascade 2in1 action pacs they come in alot of scents, since i started using them no more film
My low-end dishwasher that the builder installed does not even have a compartment for "Jet Dry", and with hard water, we had the same problems.
We used Muriatic acid, and ran the washer through a cycle with no dishes in it and it cleaned out the sprayers (hard water deposits which dried on plates as well) and solved the problem. It will need to be repeated, I'm sure.
Use less detergent and put vinegar in the rinse cycle.
i have tried several different detergents but the cascade action packs and jet dry are a good combo
I think that you have hard water, maybe you should get a water softener or add a bit of bleach in the dishwater I am talking from experience and these methods worked for me .
Add a 1/2 cup of vinegar to your wash cycle. Or you can use 1/2 the regular dishwashing detergent amount, and the other 1/2 use borax. Either one works well for us. Good luck!
you probably have very hard water, cascade 2 and 1 and jet dri works great
wash them by hand or at least rinse them off before you put them in the dish washer, thats what your supposed to do anyways
In my dishwasher (it's a Magic Chef), I find Cascade gel works best, better, in fact, than Cascade Complete, which is more expensive. The gel gets my dishes and glassware clean and doesn't leave any film or water marks. I've never tried the plastic booster stuff. You could try adding a few cups of vinegar to the rinse cycle if you're around when the dishwasher is running. Vinegar helps to rinse the dishes cleaner and prevent water spots. You also could put vinegar in the rinse aid dispenser, but I doubt if it would hold enough to do any good. BTW, I don't think Palmolive or any of the powders or tablets work as well as Cascade.
