How to remove urine smell from underwear?
Question:Having a teenager, I am confused how to remove the smell of urine on underwear. I have washed it normally in cold water with the rest of the washing, I have soaked them with oxybleach and any stain remover product. But when she wears them again, you can smell the odour.

You need to neutralize the acid in urine with an alkali compound. Use a mild lye soap solution to wash or try baking soda in the rinse water. Then you need to correct the cause.
Trying washing it with hot water. Also try bleach. Not sure what type of material it is, but maybe the answer is to buy her simple cotton underwear that can be bleached and washed in hot water. The hot water should kill the bacteria that is causing the smell.
Ummm, hate to admit the lack of control but I use hot water, Tide and regular bleach. I don't have a problem with the odor returning unless I have another accident.

1. Make the habit of washing the ____(private part) after urinating and make sure to dry it well with clean wiping stuff.
2. If hot water and bleach don't work, place the underwear with soapsuds in a basin and leave under the heat of the sun for a few min. to 1 hour to kill the odor-causing bacteria. This is very effective.
3. Wash underwear using scented bar soap.
4. After urinating, wipe with toilet paper and then wipe again with baby wipes (scented or unscented). I use scented wipes.
If still these suggestions don't work, it's time to think that there's something wrong.
Another idea might be having her wear panty liners and maybe gently let her know that she needs to dry herself completely, I mean she can get yeast infections, she won't like that!
wash them in hot water with bleach and soap then put in liquid fabric softener in the rinse water along with drying them with fabric softener sheets. ( have her wear a pantie liner it will help reduce the odor trust me i am in the same boat it should work for you cause it works for me.)
Warm or hot water with a good quality washing powder like radiant or biozet soak for a few hours and buy her a pack of those new flushable wipes..It sounds like she needs to wipe a little better.
I use oxi clean to remove the stain and baking soda to remove the smell. I have three kids, a husband, a mother that has had a stroke and a brother that is over overwhelmed. I clean all the clothes in the house and I bring mom's and my borthers home on the weekends. oxi clean and baking soda.
To remove the smell of urine (and also remove any bodily stain - sweat, urine, feces, etc.) wash with shampoo in the load with your regular laundry detergent. The shampoo will work in the same way it does on your hair, in the wash. Removes the oils, and by doing this will remove the foul smells and stains.
