When our camping items get wet I take them home and use baking soda in the wash to get the mildew smell out of them and then hang them in the sun to dry thoroughly. You can buy very large boxes of baking soda in the laundry section. If I am out of that I use a whole lot of vinegar, and extra rinse and hang them to dry. Works every time!

Use enzymatic cleaner and extra detergent, and wash multiple times.
I do not think you can do anything about it, it is probably mildew you smell, and there is nothing you can do to remove mildew.
wash it with detergent and 20 mule laundry booster
first step get a gasoline can,2nd pour the gasoline on the clothes... have clothes spread all over the floor in the house and the lite ,,,this will clean any stains.
Heloise swears by vinegar. Add 1 cup of white vinegar to the recommended amount detergent and wash. You may have to do this several times, but it should work. (I am NOT Heloise!)
Throw them out, if it won't wash out. Try bleach on the whites first...
First get the clothes properly dry. Then wash again, in at least 60 degrees c. As mentioned, an enzyme powder will help. Then see that you get the clothes dry as quicly as possible.
use Arm and Hammer detergent, really gets smell out of gym shoes, should do the trick for your clothes..Hope it works for you!
