Housecleaning...Any tips?

Question:I hate cleaning house, but i love to have a clean house. so this is a problem! any suggestions on how to get over it! or make it less stressful?or creative ways to store things that seem to just keep buliding up?

Answers:
Set small cleaning goals. Work on one room-- or one area of a room-- at a time. Reward yourself when you finish a task. Give yourself a 5-minute break. Have a soda, take a bubble bath when you are all finished.

Once you have practiced your cleaning routine, each task will take less time to complete, and the routine will become a normal part of your life.

I am in the same boat as you. What I do is pick a 4 ft. by 4ft.-size area and stay put, until it is clean. I start by removing any items that do not belong in that space (i.e. shoes don't belong in the living room. I set them aside and keep moving) Then, I find a place for each item that seems to make sense. Once you pick a place, you have to stick with it. Deep clean the area with appropriate cleaners (sweep and mop floors, wipe down surfaces, vacuum carpets, or dust).

As for the storage issue, it may be a good idea to re-examine why you are keeping so much stuff. I found that I had so much of a mess because I was keeping too many items that I did not need. I had my girlfriend come over, and she helped me clean. She would ask me, "When do you use this?" If I couldn't justify the item, we thew it away (recycling, goodwill, or garbage). My rule of thumb is: if I have not used something in the last 3 months, then I don't need it. I would keep something thinking I would be able to use it again later on, but "later on" never came.

TRY ONE ROOM A DAY
I have this same problem..get a housekeeper! Problem solved!
PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF all day long. Don't leave things until they become a mess. Put dirty clothing in the hamper. wash the few dishes every day, wipe the counter after you use it, wipe out the bathtub when you finish.

Keeps things neat looking and from building up.
Put on some great music, and just do it. You will be done in no time. You could also before hand go and buy some storage boxes to help you get the job done. Have fun:)
I hate housecleaning too. It really really sucks. I usually try to do one or two things a day...so that way I don't get TOO overwhelmed and it doesn't seem soooo horrible. I will try to clean the bathroom and do a load of laundry one day and vacuum and clear off the counter another. It seems to make it a little less stressful. Also if I turn on the radio to one of my favorite stations (I like oldies :) then it seems to help a little too. Also keep in mind the end results. :)
the best thing is to have as less things as possible there will be less mess. and also when using something put it back where it was before and if you have kids let them play with a few toys only and if they dontt want to play with those then make them put those away and get the other ones they want if you have a man omg theyre a mess make them put sh*t back b/c they dont help at all so make them put it back wher they got it
get rich and hire help - lol!

listen to music you enjoy; I crank up the stereo myself
pay someone else to clean your house or work on getting organized then pick up a little each day.hope this helps.
i usually give the house a really good cleaning on like saturday and the rest of the week just try to keep up with it so when next saturday comes around again i 'm not cleaning so much.
The first thing I do when I get up is put the coffee on. Then while enjoying my coffee, sitting out on the patio, I have a binder and start writing a list of everything that needs to be done. After each chore listed, I estimate how long it will take me to finish. For example: 1. Wash the dishes and clean off the counter top. (15 mins.) 2. Sweep the kitchen floor. (10 mins.) 3. Clean the bathroom sink (10 mins.) .... etc. Then I add up the minutes to see how many hours it will take to finish all the chores. Then when I'm ready to start, I look at the clock and move as fast as I can to try to beat the time I estimated. It's kind of like a challenge. I work as fast as I can and in most cases I do beat my estimated time. It's like a game. Usually in 2 to 3 hours I am DONE! It makes me feel good and know that I can enjoy the rest of the day doing something fun. Also the secret is to keep things picked up daily so the clutter doesn't accumlate. If you keep things up everyday it takes less time to clean. I love the satisfaction I get from it. Decide to enjoy it instead of hating it. The feeling of "clean and neat" is worth the work. Have fun!
What I do is I make lists of chores to do for each day of the week and tackle them. Usually, all the chores for one day deal with one room of the house for example

Monday-clean kitchen
Tuesday- clean dining room
Wednesday-clean living room
Thursday- clean bathroom and bedrooms
Friday- clean other bedrooms..... and so on.

You'd be surprised to find out how productive you can be when you see many of those chores crossed off your list day by day.

Also, I find if I put on music or an audiobook, time flies when I'm attending to all this housework.
I too love a clean house, but don't hate doing the cleaning. I can tell you that, since we bought our new house, I have started just taking an hour a day to clean. Some rooms, such as baths and kitchen, are a day in themselves, other rooms can get many done in a day. I do this so I have time on the weekends for the projects, but it may also work toward your problem. Each day there is an end, and you aren't spending too much time cleaning.
Make a list.. Do one project a day for like 30 minutes. Set a timer and work hard to get it over with..

I have a laundry issue.. We have too many clothes, not enough space, and then I never put it away, so I do 2 loads a day and put them away!!
