I put clothes with white spirit on in my washing machine and now it stinks. How can I get rid of this?
Question:I have run the washing machine numerous times with soap powder, washing up liquid, washing machine cleaners, bleach but still stinks and makes anything I wash in it stink!
Answers:
I would also put in a small amount say a handful of washing soda and put it a hot wash cycle then onto a rinse cycle.
By the way easy on the washing up liquid or you will never ever get rid of the foam....I know!
I was going to suggest washing up liquid as it is detergent which disolves oil/grease. Maybe you should try the washing up liquid again on a very hot wash.
Hope that helps
Edit:- Having read Colin M reply, to me that sounds really good. Give that one a go
My boss says clean out all the sludge you can find, filter, powder tray etc. then white vinegar and a very hot wash cycle.
not sure- try fabreeze or soak overnight in comfort
I had this problem when i got tip-ex off my daughter's school uniform with white spirit. the machine stunk for a while, but putting it on a boil wash numerous times with strong washing detergent helped.
You have to use white vinegar to get the odor out. Just add 2 cups of vinegar and let the machine run the full cycle. and it will be all gone, If your clothes need to be cleaned of this odor also, then wash them again and when you get to the rinse cycle, add the vinegar. that will take care of the wash and the machine.
washing soda and hot water.good luck ---
