Answers:
we have a small pool and fill it each year with a water truck. i think it cost about $220.00 for 5200 gallons. we have well water here that has a lot of iron and other minerals in it. we have a softener, but don't take any chances. i heard a good sand filter(about 4-5 hundred dollars) will do the trick though.
Dont you do PH tests? Is your chlorine low? Your best bet is to bring in a water sample to your nearest pool store and they should be able to help you.
-Use a container that has a lid. reach as far down as you can using your entire arm, into the pool to collect the water. Bring it straight up, cap it, and bring it right in!
We once had our water turn purple.. i kid you not! It was DARK purple, so dark that you could hardly see to the bottom of the pool. We brought the water in (since they had no clue) and they figured it out from sampling it.
Most places I've been to does this for free, since you normally need chemicals to fix it.
I would guess you need chlorine though..
I know how to get rid of mold that builds of from pools. If you're interested you can use an organic product called Thieves. It gets rid of mold and mildew. (It works great as a regular cleaner also). If you want to get it just go to www.moldrx4u.com It's great stuff.
