if you have an aloe plant, then break a leaf in two and rub the inside of the leaf on the burn. guaranteed .
I never tried it, but I heard a stick of butter works well.
Ice water or an ice cube...seriously. It will take away the pain of the burn.
I heard that if you cut a potato in half and put the burn on inside of the potato ,the potato will take the heat and it turns pink. I haven't tried it yet though. I also think it has to be like asap when it happens
aloe helps it heal, but to get rid of the pain, rub very oily things on it, like butter, or sour cream. It helps a lot against the pain in a couple of minutes.
run under cold water asap, and then take an asprin and dont touch it. It's probably a 3rd degree burn and would heal in a few days. If pain persistes see a doctor
Dip the injury in ice water.
If you don't have the aloe, spread some plain ol' yellow mustard on the burn. Don't laugh - it really works. I caught a pepperoni & cheese pizza straight from the oven, on the cheese side and the boss coated my hand w/ yellow mustard. Pulls out the heat which relieves allot of the pain.

Don't put oily stuff - old wives' tale!
wrap the spot in a cold wet washcloth, as the liquid absorbs the heat it wont be like such a shock. It just feels like the spot & the cloth both go back to normal temp.
run it under cold water. aloe pulls the heat out. never put butter on it...it will cause it to blister or hold the heat in more. if you have any silvodene cream, it will produce a cooling effect, also.
butter. cold water, ice cube
ice water first, put the burn in it for a few minutes till the cold hurts,
then take out till you feel the heat again,
then cold again,
for about the first 30 minutes,

if it continues to burn get some Zinc Oxide Cream ointment its similar to antibiotic creams but the zinc heals the skin lots faster, or if you don't have either of those and all you have is vasoline it works great to keep the skin from drying out and making the burn worse,
also the others said about aloe vera plant - the jell from that works good too but it dries out fast so you have to keep working with it to keep it wet,

if the burn is really bad and after a day,
its still hurting then call your doctor,

or if it is blistered up call the doctor while you have it in the ice water,

also i did a quik search with yahoo i just typed in > burns < and came up with this > http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=burns&e... ;

also this information >> A burn can be caused by heat (flames, hot grease, or boiling water), the sun (solar radiation), chemicals or electricity. When a burn breaks the skin, infection and loss of fluid can occur; burns can also result in difficulty breathing. If a burn victim has trouble breathing, has burns on more than one part of the body, or was burned by chemicals , an explosion, or electricity, immediately. Burns caused by flames or hot grease usually require medical attention as well, especially if the victim is a child or an elderly person. <<<< from this site off the yahoo search >> http://library.thinkquest.org/10624/burn... <<< on that site is other information too...

NEVER use butter on a burn. Just cold water or ice, & aloe vera can help.
Never use butter. Lavender oil works best. Put some on neat and then dampen a cotton pad or tissue or something similar with the oil. Use a bandaid to keep this in place on the burn. Leave this as long as possible, preferably overnight. You will be amazed how this works.
Don't put buttar on it that isn't true. I'd use Aloe, Ice or cold water.
Dermablast spray. You find it in the pharmacy. I keep a can of it in my kitchen at all times just for this purpose. It works great for all minor skin irritations.
