Does anyone know how to get rid of curry odor in cupboards?
Question:
Answers:
You dont have to immediately use drastic measures as cupboards will be used for storing clothings etc and you dont want to it smell curry odor nor chemicals. You must try using charcoal (its odorless) as it absorb extreme odor in many conditions, ex. inside the fridge, or a newly painted room, etc. Then, spraying water with chlorex or other chemical may then be used. Applying a sealant on the wood is the last thing that you may want to do.
put a few bowls of vinegar inside the cabinets and let them sit in there for a few days. the vinegar smell will go away very quickly. You can also pour some arm and hammer baking soda all around inside then vacuum it out in a few days.
If the smell comes back, you may have to seal the wood with a sealer like "killz"
remember that you have to get rid of the source of the smell, or seal it in, otherwise it will keep coming back
1. Empty the cabinets completely
2. Vacuum out the cabinet throughly
3. Spray down the surfaces with a mild bleach and water solution (1 tsp bleach to 1 quart of water)
4. Sprinkle baking soda on the bleach&water moist surfaces, paying special attention to the corners, cracks and edges
5. After the cabinet had dried overnight, vacuum again
1 cup bleach in a gallon of water ..wipe on surface to eliminate all odors..the bleach smell will be gone is 24 hours.
I actually like that smell, but I can understand why that would be a problem if you didn't.
You can start by scrubbing with an ammonia based sudsy cleaner, Krud Kutter or Lysol. Once that dries you can place open baking soda boxes around to help absorb any further odors before putting down shelf paper. Leave the doors open to allow the smell to dissipate.
Empty cupboards and wipe down with a disinfectant. Clean thoroughly with ammonia or bleach. This should remove the odor. Wait at least 24 hours to see if you are successful.
