How do you store your clothes?

Question:like do you use a dresser?
i would like to hang all my clothes up but lack the closet space, i dont have a dresser and am so dang unorganized that my clothes are all dirty laying around the place.

if i did have a dresser i would only want socks and underwear
and sleep clothes in it, i dont like digging through the dresser messing everything up.

so i was wondering ideas on getting organized with all your clothes, i desperately need it.

How Do You Store Your Clothes When Not Wearing Them?

Answers:
This is what I do:

1. Hang my important clothes, slacks, blouses, etc.
2. I have a plastic three level set of drawers, found at any Walmart or Target. !st level is underware and socks, second level night clothes, 3rd level misc. items
3. Get a laundry bin and put the dirty items in there
4. My winter clothes are tucked away in a mold safe plastic bag in the closet until I need them.

I hang up my work (dress) clothes
Tshirts/shorts/jeans etc. are in my dresser
nightclothes/socks/underwear are in a plastic 3-drawer thingy from walmart
I have 3 hampers for my dirty clothes--dress, lights, darks
I do this:
1.put all nice shirts dresses skirts jackets and nice pants in closet
i organize it by putting dresses nice pants and skirts on the right side of the closet then i put all nice shirts on the left side of closet then i put all jackets on lower hanging rack in closet

2. i put underwear bras and socks in my first drawer of my dresser

3.i put camis and tanks in my second drawer

4.i put t-shirts in third drawer

5.i put all jeans jean shorts and sport pants in my fourth drawer

6.i put all p.j's and sweat shirts in my sixth drawer

my mom does this:

1.dresses, nice pants, nice shirts and skirts in her closet

2. she puts all camis and tanks in 3 drawer plastic little dresser thingy from wal-mart (found at any wal-mart or target in storage dep.)

3.she puts bras socks pjs and underwear in a drawer

4.tshirts in another drawer

5. sport pants in last drawer
I hang everything up. I hate to fold. I have a door hook to hang something I might wear more than once. If it goes back in the closet, leave it inside out. that way you know it's been worn before. and it keeps the dust off.
Place seasonal clothes in plastic tubs and store elsewhere (basement, storage locker, etc)
they have hanging storage's for the closet that make the closet more roomy. it works great to put your sweaters and shirts in
well, when the clothes are out of season (ex. its summer, so winter clothing needs storing) i have rubbermaid tubs. this seals them really well so no bugs or anything gets in it. i know that you can buy racks at stores like target so as to hang up clothes and they have a zippered bag to over them up so as to keep the dust out. but it probably won't keep all bugs etc...out like the rubbermaid tubs, but then the rubbermaid tubs required clothes to be folded...so fold nicely and take the time so as not to have too many wrinkles when you want the clothes back.

hope this helps.
What about buying hanging closets that way you could hang your clothes on there since you lack closet space.or even buying a shelf and putting your your on there.
Think of this... If you are already struggling with organizational issues DO NOT add more "things" to your ever growing piles. By things I mean totes, bins, hangers, etc.

Get a nice shelving unit and 3 baskets with a depth of about 6 inches and start sorting through your clothes deciding what you really use, need and actually wear.
If you simply want it but never wear it - pass it along!

Once you have sorted through your wardrobe...
Hang only what absolutely needs to be hung
Put your unmentionables in the baskets; one for socks one for undies, one for bras.
Fold your pants/jeans and put them on the bottom shelves
Fold your sweaters/sweatshirts and set them on the top shelf
T-shirts and odds and ends go where you have best and easiest access to them, you decide the spot that works best for you. The easier they are to see and get to the less likely they are to land every place in a fast search.

Take your time, do one part a day... it is not worth working yourself into a frenzy to put things in order, they have been out of order for a long time and a few more days will not tip you into oblivion.

A great place for organizational tips with purpose and planning is the "flylady" website.

Best wishes to you!
I box up the clothes by season and put them into storage or in the basement til I need them again.

If that's not a possibility, get a hanging rack that hangs off the original rack to double your space. They'll hang one above the other, about 4 ft or so. You can hang your shirts on the top rack and your pants can be folded over a shirt hanger on the bottom.
I use "space saver" bags to store all of my seasonal clothes that I am not wearing. I put them in the closet in my spare room.
I have a chest that I put mine in , if you dont have alot of room.
my closet holds the clothes I wear daily and coats. Everything else like t-shirts and slacks are folded on the top shelf. Otherwise everything else is in boxes. I have a dresser and it's full but I never go in there so it's used like an extra box. So boxes are your answer. I bought my dresser for $35 so they aren't really expensive. If you live in an apartment when someone moves out go see what they have left behind and pick yourself up a dresser if you want one. You can always fix it and paint it if needed. When people have a dresser usually everything in it has been "folded". All socks in one area, all underwear in another area, t-shirts in another area, slacks in another area. Some people just buy plastic colored stackable boxes that don't have tops on them. They are stacked so you can see what's in them. They are also very easy to move if you have to do that or do that often. Staples has those kinds of boxes.
