How can you get the smell out of a washer that came from a home of a smoker?
Question:washer works great. but has the smell of a home of a smoker , even after 3 cycles of running bleach through it.
Answers:
let fill with hot water, put in 2 cups baking soda 1 cup vinegar let it sit over night rinse (let the washer run through the whole cycle of wash) repeat if necessary
Try dumping in a couple boxes of baking soda for a cycle... and wash the exterior metal really well. Nicotine and tar tends to coat items from a smoker's home.
dump a bottle of febreze into the washer full of water. let it soak for several hrs. then let it rinse
maybe the machine itself needs to be steam cleaned
I would run some boxes of baking soda in it. I cleaned some clothes that had smoke damage and the clothes came out with out the smell on them.
Use one of those car washers that has a jar full of soap that fits on a hose. Wash top and bottom. Rinse well afterward and let it dry out for a week before you use it.
try vinegar. use about a half gallon in full level.
After that use Borax, one full cup at full water level. I like borax so well, I use a half cup with almost every wash load. Machine never stinks!!!
This seems like it is totally ridiculous question. You can not smell smoke from a washing machine! Not cigarette smoke. It is in your head. If you have washed it down on the outside than there should be no smell. Probably someone in your house has smoked or something.
Try a 1/2 water and 1/2 white vinegar solution. If it's a top loader, let it soak; if it's a front loader, use your longest cycle. You may have to run it more than once.
There is a product you can get called Odo-Ban. That should take the smell out. Make sure too that you did not forget to wash the back of the washer; the smell of smoke may have gotten on that too.
Place an open bag or box of moth balls in the washer and let it sit for about 3-4 days, moth balls will absorb the smell of anything. When I bought my truck, it was previously owned by a smoker and that is what I used to eliminate the odor. It took a few days but it worked.
If you have a covered porch or outdoor shelter, put the machine outside for a couple days to air out. Also be sure to wash done the outside of the machine, with baking soda and water. :)
