What's the point in keeping store bought shoe boxes? Should shoes be stored in clear plastic containers?

Yeah, clear plastic containers are nice. But call me cheap, I use the cardboard shoe boxes they come in because... well. it's free. The old cardboard shoe box can serve multiple services, other than storing shoes. I'm a recycle type person and love "Trash Craft".
You could store shoes in a clear plastic container and put a picture of the shoes on the outside. Then, the shoes all look uniform and organized and you can find the pair you want more quickly. Some schools use shoe boxes for projects, so if you are thinking of getting rid of lots of boxes, call around to local schools to see if they can use them.
I don't keep the store bought shoe boxes because I left some shoes it a box they came in and they got mold on them. I have clear plastic containers for all my shoes.
