Just curious about how everyone does their laundry?

Question:This has been a source of many debates in my family. My mom says the best way to wash clothes is to put the clothes in the washer, then put the detergent in, then turn the machine on. I say that you should put the detergent in first, turn the machine on, and let the water and detergent mix a little, THEN add the clothes. Comments? Opinions? Suggestions? Thanks.

LOL this question is hilarious. My mom, dad, and I all do laundry different too!
I like to put the clothes in first, then turn the machine on to get the water going, then put in detergent with the water.
My mom starts the water, puts in detergent AND liquid fabric softener, then puts in clothes.
My dad starts the water and puts in detergent, and lets the water fill up all the way before putting in clothes. I think he's nuts.
My boyfriend has the best system of all. He brings his clothes home every weekend and has his mom do them.
LOL can you really do it wrong? They get clean every which way. :D

ive done it both ways and it all comes out the same
I put in soap, then turn on the machine and add the clothes in immediatly. seems to work well.
detergent first.
I always start the machine, then once there is about an inch of water I add the deteregent, and then when it is about 1/2 full I start adding my clothes. If they are whites I let them wash for about 5 minutes then I add my bleach through the bleach dispenser.
what! does it really matter as long as they r clean
the right way is to turn the machine on, put the detergent, then the clothes
It depends on the person. Although more people put the detergent in first, because it mixes in right away - your procedure isn't wrong, its just different.
depends on the machine i would say a top loader i would agree with you
Um I don't think it really matters which way you do it. I personally turn it on, add the clothes, and then add the detergent.
I start the water, then add the liquid detergent. Let that mix for a little while and then add the clothes. I started this, only because I would go to clubs and it looked like I had ejaculate stains on my clothes, when under black lights. People said that was from laundry detergent. Atleast that's what I hope it was. Anyways, I don't know if that has worked or not, been a while since I was under black lights.
i think if ur using a liquid detergent, then it doesn't matter how u do it, but if ur using powder, i would turn on the machine, let it fill a bit, and then put the powder in. this way u don't get any lumps. and it doesn't stick to ur clothes. i use liquid, but i still put it in b4 i put the clothes in.
I usually put the detergent in first, but it really doesn't matter. Your clothes will get clean either way.
Your's is better. I do that too.
The detergent will mix in the water evenly.
It depends on the washing machine. Front loaders have a little tray you put the detergent in so you put your clothes in and the detergent in its tray and away it goes.
My old top loader used to have a thing in the middle you put the detergent in. So i used to put the clothes in, pour in the detergent and turn on the machine.
I have one without an agitator now so i put in the clothes pour on the powder and start it up.

Of course the best method its usually in your washing machine manual. Its in black and white and sure way to end any argument.
Correct one is that you let the water and detergent mix a little, add water in a full volume then you should add the clothes , turn the machine on.
you are right. i read that
I have always put the washing powder in first. It depends on the washing machine , I just bought a new machine AEG, So I can program the machine to come on when ever I like. So I have to put the soap powder in before hand. I can understand your mothers meaning. As some machine“s take time for the water to heat up, so the soap goes in after the water is hot and the soap melts. Do you think?
I agree with you. I put the detergent in first, then the clothes, this way the detergent doesn't ruin your clothers. I've been doing this way for years nad have never had a problem.
i always put the detergent in the water first. phosphorous in the detergent can leave marks or stains on your clothing. esp. noticable if you are somewhere with a blacklight, like a nightclub
Here is how you use a washing machine:
Put detergent in first/Put laundry in second/Turn the machine on.
I separate my clothes, turn the water on, pour washing powder in, and then put my clothes in the washer.
