How can I get the musky smell out of my clean, but smelly couch?

Question:I picked up a beautiful antique couch from some relatives that had been stored in their basement. It's nice, but has the musky, dank basement smell pervading from it.

I also need to use it soon, and don't have time to get it professionally cleaned. Are there short-term solutions besides professionally cleaning it?

Answers:
A sunny day should do the trick! Also a spray called Odo-Ban works wonders and it smells so good! Do not put it under cover though it needs the sun just as much as it needs fresh air..hope this helps!

put it out on the sun
Perhaps a product like Febreze? That and some dry fresh air will help. Do you have a covered place outdoors that you could put it to air out for a few days, like maybe a garage with the door open?
Put a tablespoon of white vinegar in a spray bottle full of water. Mist the couch.
febreeze would be a soultion for short term results. It has been my experience that you have to spray the item down regularly in order for the smell to be gone. Another solution is bakind soda. I would by some, sprinkle it on and vacumme it off. If you are worried about putting something on it, you could just leave the baking soda in the cardboard container and sit the container in the corners and hope that it will still draw the smell out. Other than these things, I would be afraid to put too much on it. Your only other soloution is to sit the couch outside, let the sun and the breeze air it out.
