What is the best way to clean mold/mildew on basement walls?
Question:My basement has a sump pump and has a drainage system above floor, not tile in the floor. So it looks like a baseboard around the floor. The mold/mildew is worse at the base. Is there a way to prevent new mildew from happening?
Answers:
Clean it with a strong solution of bleach in a big yard type sprayer. Saturate the wall and floor and let it set. Keep the area well vented and wear protective eye wear, gloves and breathing mask.
Scrub it with a scrub brush on a pole to keep it away from you. Hose it down well.
After it completely dries.COMPLETELY DRIES...seal it with a paint called> UGL. ( it is for stone walls and brick and concrete to seal out moisture. Put fans down there to dry it.
If the mold come back you may need to seek professional help.
ive found that bleach works wounders on mold/and or mildew
you are dealing with a living organism and bleach will kill it
Use tilex to clean it and then wipe it down with a half and half bleach and water mixture. That will kill off any of that mildew that tilex may have left behind and leave a slight film that will help inhibit growth.

clorox
the mold is growing on the wall because that is the coldest part of the room and the warm air is condensing on it. To remove it, you will need to clean it off with bleach, but it will keep on coming back unless you get some air circulating around the area.
