How do I keep ink from fading when writing on cloth?

Question:Situation: writing on T-shirt from the school year and i dont want writing to fade is there a special way to prevent this? because Im aware with multiple washes the writing will eventually become worn and faded

hand wash inside out and hang dry. You can buy fabric paint pens.
