Do you have your house professionally cleaned? Plus a few more questions...?
Question:If so, how clean is your house when they come in? And do you de-clutter & be sure everything is in it's place before they arrive? Things like lforgotten shoes or toys.
If you stay while they're there do you just go to the opposite end of the house to stay out of their way?
Do you tip, how much?
Answers:
I clean houses and from most of my experience, the homeowner de-clutters most of the stuff, while the cleaner actually sanitizes, mops, vacuums, etc.
Most times the homeowner is there at the house, but sometimes they run out to do errands, etc. When they're not there sometimes they'll leave a key for me and tell me where they hid it. Usually they are busy on their computers or engaged in yard work or something.
As far as tips go, I usually only get another couple bucks per hour. I usually charge only $18 per hour, yet they pay me $20 per hour and tell me to keep the change.
I gave up on the "professionals". If one does employ them (and when I did) I would certainly de-clutter (gives one a great reason to finally stop procrastination). I would definitely take care of 'valuables'. Best to leave the house (yet that's the snag). Tipping may depend on their cost; if on their own, I never tipped. One may tip 10-20% (as restaurant tipping is uaually 15%) when they are employees of a larger company. Naturally, depending on their quality of work.
i dont but i was looking at companies on the internet, i would refer to hire one of them cause if they damaged anything when they were cleaning it or you notice something is missing then it is easier to sort it out!
i seen a few companies in England and Ireland that actually specialise in oven cleaning!!, it takes them about two hours and they use a thing like a dishwasher that's in the back of their van to clean everything, i dont know how much it cost but it sounded really good, thay even claim to make your oven look almost brand new! coolabulla!!
I have someone that comes once a week for 2 or 3 hours. She dusts the main rooms, and all the floors (vacuuming and mopping) and occationally cleans my oven or light fixtures, the bathroom tile, or other things I have a hard time doing. I give her an extra $5 unless she's done a big extra job, then I'll give her an extra $10.
I remind my little girl to pick up her toys and we just don't have a habit of leaving things like shoes around so there isn't much to declutter. But, if there is something that would be in the way while the cleaning is being done, I pick it up. After all, I pay to have the house cleaned, not decluttered.
I just go about my business, on the computer, cooking, sewing, laundry, whatever...while she's here, but stay out of her way so I'm not triping over the vacuum cord or stepping on a wet floor. When she's ready to do the room I'm in, I go do something else.
