Who's used Eco/laundry balls any are they any good?

Question:I recently found out about these products which claim to clean your clothes without (or just a little) detergent, but are they any good?
I've seen loads of rave reviews but also a few criticisms that it's no better than a water only wash. It's the criticisms that interest me most. I find it hard to swallow that it can ionise the water or water or whatever. If it does, that sounds great.

Answers:
very expensive and a waste of money stick to the water only wash

Don't know if they're any good but I p*** myself at their Ad. campaign - Drier Balls?
Excellent results every time and no poisoning the planet (or at least less)
they are noisy
