How can I achieve cigarette smell out of pressboard furniture? Please memo that this is NOT solid wood?

I bought a large entertainment unit at (what I thought was) a great price from the classifieds. I notice nothing when picking it up but when I got it contained by my basement it immediately smelled and is making me ill. I have looked looked online and see vinegar / coffee / charcoal bricks and other natural methods as resourcefully as a few "we can do it" chemical products but they all deal near real wood. Does anyone have experience near the pressboard angle?

Answers:    Well presumable its laminated so giving it a real good wipe down beside a damp cloth with some sought of detergent may abet. If the smell has actually permeate the wood then you will probably just hold to wait for the smell to fade away next to time. Any product that you try to soak into particle board will probably cause it to swell ruining it.

Wash it next to some warm water and for a time dish soap. Then spray the whole thing near a fine mist of 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water and let it nouns dry. If possible put it outside to air dry. If not, you will just smell vinegar for a while until it dries.

Then, possibly you could paint the article if necessary.

The vinegar really works. I used the same method on a wooden paling that had dog pee on it. It took the smell out almost immediately.
