Cleaning Velvet Furniture?

Question:I have a light yellow velvet couch/chair set. What is the best way to clean some stains that have shown up?

I find the easiest way to clean velvet upholstery is with dry granule carpet cleaner. Resolve and Capture both make them. You simply agitate the moist granules into the stain, allow to dry and vacuum it up when it is completely dry. I've even gotten out soda stains using this method. If they are particularly stubborn stains, agitate until they disappear. The dry granules won't damage the fabric or leave a residue that attracts dirt and dust which become mystery stains.
