Hard-Core House Cleaning Help!!??

Question:So we (I) slacked off a lot on house cleaning. My husband and his friends are messy and I got tired of cleaning up after them and just stopped taking care of their messes. Well it backfired- Big time! Our house got discusting, I am embarrased to have anyone see it, I can hardly live in it, and our whole family got sick because it's so dirty. I got a babysitter for the day to clean and I have got a lot taken care of so far. But the kitchen is gross, some dishes have mold and fruit flys n theres ants n other creepy crawlies. I wish I knew how it got SO out of control n nasty, but now I just need to know how to clean it, get rid of the bugs n mold and whatevers in the air thats making us sick. I am thoroughly cleaning everything top to bottom, bleaching and disinfecting like crazy, how do I make sure I take care of everything. Can you guys give me some tips and reminders and encouragment please. Especially if any of you have been here, what did you do? How do I get my clean house back?

I've been there girl, it sucks. I was going threw a deperssion period and let everything go.

I found that if I made one day a week were you just dissinfect and mop. Then there is the everyday routine like washing dishes right after meal (don't wait) and clean the restrooms before taking showers. Make it part of your daily chore and everything will be in it's place.

Keep up the good work! It sounds like you will be fine.

You and your husband need to work on this together.
If he won't help, take the kids and go check into a nice clean hotel.
Let him know that when he is willing to work with you, you will return.

You will need a lot of bleach products.make sure to wear gloves .
Try the fly lady or whatever her name is.
She can help a lot.
Good luck
bleach and hot soapy water for the dishes
a spray bottle with 1/2 and 1/2 water and bleach
and lots of paper towels for everything else
good luck
i have 3 teen boys that don`t like to clean up after themselves
bleach is the only way to go...
p.s ..spray [bleach&water] the sink and dishes to kill the bugs..
Number 1, you need to address the problem or you'll be back with the same mess in a few weeks. Your husband needs to take care of his mess. He's not 6 anymore right? Don't let him leave stuff out. You don't need to nag, you just need to explain that it's not fair for you to be doing all the cleanup. Your his wife, not his maid. If he's an adult, he should be able to accept that he hasn't been pulling his weight.

Number two, either suck it up and do it yourself, or pay someone to clean and disinfect. There are cleaning companies who specialize in cleaning foreclosed house prior to sale, and they seen pretty much everything in terms of mess. I'm sure they can handle yours.

Finally, you probably want a pest control company to come in just in case you picked up some other undesirable house guests besides the ants (cockroaches spring to mind).

Good luck.
Well try to do things like this. Set your alarm clock to go off in 15, min´s time. See how much you can do in this short amount of time. First I would boil some water, Whilst you are waiting for this, empty every thing from the kitchen cabinets anything thats off throw it out, Thing´s that are still okay to eat put them in a box out of the kitchen, Next find another box, this will be for all the cutlery you are about to clean, Pour the water in the sink add some dish washing liquid and put all the cutlery in the sink, Once you have washed and rinsed this, dry well and place in the box. Stop. The alarm as gone off, time for you to sit down and have a rest. Set the clock again for 15 min´s. Do the same with dishes, boil them wash well rinse , then dry . Place them in the box. you carry on this way and you will fly through the kitchen in no time. Just remember to reward yourself when ever you finish a job . Thing´s don´t have to be done all in one day. Clean one thing at a time , place all clean things inside the clean cabinets, Get your husband and his friend to help you , they should be the ones that are doing the work. Lets hope they do help. Otherwise, go and stay with a friend, and tell them to call you once they have finished cleaning up the mess they made. Put your foot down, and set a few rules. Shame If I knew your address I would come and help you myself, and make sure they helped too
bleach bleach and only bleach. Do not use other harsh chemicals while using bleach or you will find out what being sick really is. I have one simple rule in my house..you leave it out and not in it's proper place then it is mine to throw away and I mean no matter what it is. worked at my house and even my kids learned to be neat freaks. Good luck hun.
Could you not throw out all the things you don't need like the stuff in the sink and buy new to start over again you can make your own cleaners from house hold ingredients like lemon juice ,vinegar, bicarbonate of soda you can mix most things into a paste to clean and they wont cause fumes.Ask your mom or mom in law for tips on these things they're normally full of useless information
