How can i control dust in my home?
Question:My house is always dusty. I'm frustrated because no matter how often I vacuum, dust, sweep, etc, its never looks not dusty. I do have 2 cats, which I know contributes to this, but what else could be causing things to be so dusty. I live on the 3rd floor, so i dont think its stuff blowing in from outside. HELP!! Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

If you finish vacuuming and then you see dust immediately where you just vacuumed there may be a bigger problem here than you realize. Although cat dander can look like dust once it becomes airborne and lands on furniture or woodwork, it is picked up by a vacuum.
And yet you say that after vacuuming or dusting, the surfaces are still dusty. It doesn't seem reasonable that dust could possible appear that quickly after cleaning. There might be a problem here slightly more important than dust. You might want to talk to someone you trust.
Good luck.
uhhh duhhh
clean it
Check with your neighbors in the house. If they are having the same problem, check the furnace filters and replace if needed or have landlord change.
check all you rfilters form the furnace/air conditioning. If you rent call your landlord & have him check all of the filters in the building. (this should be done once a year) Then check your vaccum. See if it needs a new bag or filter. You may want to invest in a new one. It may be throwing the dust from the carpet back into the air. Invest in a really good ostrich feather duster. They pick dust up great and they are fun to use.
Sharper Image Air purifiers work very well. They are expensive, but effective. They are silent too. When you clean them you can see all the dust they remove from the air.
check the furnace filters. Also make sure you have some good door mats - not those cutsie decorative ones but some industrial ones like you see in businesses etc. They catch a lot of dirt that we track into the house. Another thing is check your vacuum cleaner- I bought a new one and vacuumed - you wouldn't believe what came out of my house. I don't think the other one had worked in YEARS
