How do Hotels keep the towels and sheets sooo white?
Question:The obvious answer is soap and bleach. But I notice that my white linens are not as vibrant after about 6 months, and I love using towels and sheets without dyes in them so I'm wondering how I can keep them WHITE! : )
Answers:
Get laundry bluing. It's a blue liquid that you put in with your whites. You have to use it continuously with the whites (can't start once they start looking grimy).
Besides using bleach, i'm sure that the hotels don't use the same towels for long periods of time. Maybe a few months before they are thrown out.
after so many uses/guests and washing with strong detergent and bleach, sheets and towels are replaced at hotels. this is for sanitary reasons as well as the overall appearance of the hotel. if the sheets and towels weren't replaced periodically, they would begin to look like your "not as vibrant" white linens. Plus, excessive bleach usage deteriorates fabrics, causing them to fray and become dingy.
I agree with the "bluing" my Gram used to use it all the time.Hotels also wash towels daily, most of us regular folks don't do that. (Who has the time to do that ? lol )
they have a special product and they only use them for a certain amount of time before they throw them out.
Bleach over time will dull whites, try using oxygen detergent and less bleach per load.
