Storing clothes in Loft?
Question:I got some old clothes, winter clothes etc in suitcases that i want to store up in the loft, but worried about the humidity, odour, moths, etc. The house is a 1950 build and doesnt have good insulation. Any suggestions of how to store them safely in the loft..
Thanks!

You can buy zipped bags which are see-through for storage and use your vacuum cleaner to take all the excess air out of them so making the item as small as possible. These are ideal for loft storage and you could put them inside the suitcases anyway. They would protect agains attack from the things you mention. I imagine the clothes are pretty badly creased when they are taken out but at least they would be dry and in one piece!
You can get the bags on ebay, from John Lewis or go to www.bizrate.co.uk and look for "small storage" to compare bags from different companies.
Though this is none of my business - I would have a thorough, realistic throwing out session before bagging things up - I've just had one here at home and I feel good!!!
Get some of the big plastic bags on offer which you can then extract all the air from so they become very compact. Will keep the moisture out of them together with any insects.
you can get vacuum seal-able bags which would be the best option
Buy some vacu bags, put them in and suck air out with vac...then store them in the sutcase that will protect them from odour/moths etc and wont be as bulky.
:-)
I used storage bags that your can remove the air from. These can be purchased from camping/travel shops as they are usually used to compact your holiday clothes. As this makes them air tight, you are protected from damp, moths and odours. Happy storing.
think it would be a good idea to get some of those vacuum bags, think you can get them at woolworths, think they are made by JML. basically you put all your stuff into the bag then attach the hose from your vacuum cleaner and it sucks the air out. then you wont be bothered with damp problems/ good luck. might be a good time to de-clutter lol
get vacuum seal-able bags, don't use normal plastic bags from superstores...I acutally did this once and the printted name of Tesco was imprinted on most of my things..and it wouldnt come off. :(
put them in vacuum bags and check periodically and extract the air again if neccessary
