CAN I Change the SEAL ON my washing Machine?

Question:When i open my washer door there is a horrible smell, i've pulled the door seal forward and it is all slimey and stinks, is there any way i can take it out to clean it then re-fit it or do i need a plumber in to fit me a brand new one?

Answers:
Depends on the make and model but most are easy to fit yourself. Buy one off one of the traders on Ebay and ask for instructions. They are very good that way.

Basically it is ease off and squeeze the new one in. A tiny amoumt of vaseline will help. but make sure it is only a smear

You will also find that you need three hands so get someone to help you.

.

try just peeling it back gently and wiping it with a vinegar and water mild solution you can change them but they a pain in the *** to get the new ones in
you can do it yourself, You need the name and model number and look on the website for the part. I think it should be pretty straight forward to fix.
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. Tried everything, called a plumber, he wanted $200 for the part. Then went to a Sears-Kenmore representative, who told us that the part itself (seal) was $300 dollars. Could almost buy a whole new washer for that, and did.

Replacing it is really the only other option aside from buying a new one.
