How can I remove paint from my clothes and tennis shoes?

Question:I did a Habitat for Humanity build a week or so ago and was stuck with the job of painting. I got a lot of interior paint on my clothes and shoe and I was not able to clean it off before it dried. I was hoping that someone out there had a good solution to clean the paint off of my clothes (and my shoes especially). Thanks

Answers:
Goof Off and Mostenbockers latex paint remover will take it off. I prefer Mostenbockers mainly because it is not petroleum based like Goof Off and doesn't have fumes as a result. Moreover, Goof Off can potentially leave a residue which then leaves you with another stain to remove. Mostenbockers is non-toxic, fume free and doesn't leave any residue. You can find it at the discounters in the laundry aisle and in the home improvement centers mostly on the paint and stain aisle. Whereas GoofOff is instanteous gratification, you do need a soft brush to agitate the Mostenbockers into the fiber to release the paint and continue to apply and blot up the released latex.

Paint thinner.
It's amazing how often this question pops up.

When paint dries, the acrylic comes to the surface to form a sealant. This sealant is the reason that dried paint is hard to remove. If you take a razor blade to the paint to get rid of this top layer, the chalky paint underneath is actually very easy to get rid of. Just use some mineral spirits on it. Gas, paint thinner, etc., will all work but are a bit oily and may leave a completely separate stain.
