How do you get mildew out of clothes without using bleach?

Question:I am looking for a safe way of getting it out.

Answers:
expose them to the sun. the sun kills of mildew. Once they have been in the sun, add lemon juice again dry in the sun . then wash on a normal wash. For dry clean only clothing, the same , expose to the sun. add lemon juice and salt, leave to dry in the sun, then wipe down with clear water sponge

It's almost impossible to remove the spots completely, even *with* bleach. Shout, Zout, Clorox Stain Remover, etc. all lighten the larger marks substantially, but I've never found anything that removes the little black pinpricks of mildew.

If the clothing is white, use the Clorox Laundry Pen before washing. I use the pen & add a little liquid Tide to the spot then let set for a while, then wash as you normally do. Mildew is not easy to remove but follow my advice & see what happens.
I have found that making a paste out of oxyclean, usually does the trick... Rub the paste on , let sit for an hour or so.. (garmet needs to be wet).. Then wash with Tide...
