Is there a vacuum that's as good as the Dyson line, but not $500?

Question:I have 3 cats and a dog and my vacuum sucks, in a bad way.

Answers:
Check on the Good Housekeeping site and see what they rate different vacuums. I checked them out once and they found that a Hoover was better than the Dyson. But I can't remember what Model of Hoover it was. Getting old for my age. I know I checked it out and it runs between $250 and $280 depending on where you look.

My vac is a Bissell Velocity™ Cyclonic Upright Bagless Vacuum, and I LOVE it. We have two cats, one of which has long, fluffy hair that sticks to EVERYTHING - this vac really gets the job done, and is very affordable. My favorite part is that it's bagless, so I can vac every day without wasting money on bags.
My dyson is amazing! after 3 years I am still amazed at the hair it picks up from 3 cats and 2 dogs. It is well worth the money since I seemed to be replacing vacuums yearly before my dyson.
look for a revolving brush head on a vacuum, that is the key to pickup of hair and most quality vacs need good airflow (suction and airflow are different), most basic bagless vac get reduced airflow quickly.

motor wattage doesnt dicatate an efficent vacuum i.e most dysons are only a 1250Watt motor!!
