Does anyone have any tips for cleaning fabric shoes?
Question:I've tried a foam cleaner that I was fobbed off with when I bought the shoes but it's useless!
Answers:
yep, the pillowcase and then in the washing machine works. When you dry them stuff them with newspaper and leave them in the airing cupboard until they are totally dry.
I always put mine in a pillowcase and then in the washing machine - I do this with trainers usually and they come out really clean
I can suggest this, I wash my fabric shoes, and our trainer´s this way . They come up nice and clean. You need to buy some good old fashioned soap bar soap. You know the kind for washing clothes, people used this many years ago with the old scrubbing board. You can find this in your local hardware store& some super markets sell it. So soak your shoes in cold water , rub the soap on. leaving the soap on and your shoes free from water. for 1/2 hr. this lets the soap do it´s work. Then back to cold water, as you are washing fabric , use a toothbrush , give a rub then rinse well. Then hang them out in the sun to dry , The sun will bleach out any remaining stains the natural way. Also another little trick that works very well to get your shoes dry quick is . Fill the bottom of the shoes with normal rice, then put as many clean clothes or rags that will fit. leave in a warm place over night & your shoes will be dry the next day. Try for yourself
I put them in the washing machine. No pillow cases, no lingere bags, I just toss them in. They come out looking just fine. I learned the hard way not to put them in the dryer. The soles melt, so air dry your shoes.
put them in with the washing on a low temperature
