Dry cleaner shrinks dress.?
Question:I took a bunch of my dresses to the dry cleaner about two and a half weeks ago. I just tried on one of them today and it does not fit anymore. I paid $129.00 for this dress and it is one of my favorites. It is so small, it wouldn't be appropriate to wear in public anymore. The dry cleaner told me to come in tonight at 6:30 to speak with the manager. Is it possible to get a refund for the price of the dress? They never had me sign a consent form saying that they are not responsible if the dress is damaged. Has this happened to anyone else?
Answers:
Dry cleaners shrink everything, you didn't know that? The Manager will tell you that they dont' normally have any problems with shrinkage and that they have no way of knowing how big the dress was when it came in, you'll be lucky if you can squeeze the 10 bucks cleaning charge out of them. End of story
ps. its implied consent when you take the ticket
Usually the cleaners won't be responsible for the entire cost, although I think they should be. Usually their policy is to refund you the price for the cleaning x a certain amount. That is, if the cost to clean the dress was $15 then they might refund you twice or three times that amount.
You are really going to be out of luck on this one. I seriously doubt they will refund the full price.
